We don't know how many of you will have been tracking the progress of comments received by the Council on Castledown Business Park and Pickpit Hill. The results so far are remarkable:
Castledown Business Park has received 441 comments and Pickpit Hill 372.
The vast majority of the comments are opposed to the siting of waste management facilities on either site. Together these figures amount to 813 which is about four times the number of comments received for the other 41 sites put together in Wiltshire.
Most interestingly:
Solstice Park: 2 comments
Thorney Down: 12 comments
Everleigh: 5 comments
We estimate there was an approximate 20% uptake on the letters circulated around the area by the campaign group, which is twice the number anticipated. This must send a very loud and clear message to the Council especially when coupled with the 1000+ signatures gained on the Petition opposing the Waste Transfer Station plans.
Here is the link to the waste site allocations document:
There are no plans to hold another meeting at this stage as we can only await the outcome of the Core Strategy and Waste Site Allocations DPD consultations.
However, we understand there will be a Cabinet Meeting in September and shall advise whether
or not we need to make a representation in due course. Obviously, should Hills Waste Solutions submit a planning application in the meantime then we shall resume our campaign immediately.
It is very difficult to imagine the Council could disregard this level of opposition to the inclusion of the Castledown Business Park and Pickpit Hill sites in the Waste Site Allocations DPD.
The people of the Ludgershall and Tidworth Area 'HAVE HAD THEIR SAY'.
