The Really Red Radio Roadshow is always busy in the summer, and this year was no exception. We were out at two local fetes in June, at Shipton Bellinger on the 12th June and Chute on the 19th.

Both fetes are well established with the local's villagers, and also attract visitors from other parts of the Tidworth Community Area. Volunteer's John Sparrow and Lynne Mayo supported the Shipton Bellinger fete, and Station Manager Baz Reilly was the man in the hat at the Chute Fete.

The fetes were lucky once again to get very good weather (I have never been to a Shipton Bellinger fete, held on the second weekend in June, when it hasn't been sunny). Money raised by both fetes is fed back into the community, supporting local churches, schools and other good causes.

Attractions at Shipton Bellinger included sumo wrestling, the bottle stall , a huge green crane supplied by the Army, and Melvyn the coppice maker shown some fascinating rural crafts, and at Chute we had the climbing wall, tug of war and Portobelo Road, plus the spectacular helicopter.
Both fetes are run by very small committees, so very well done. If you want to give them a hand next year, contact Helen Batterby in Shipton Bellinger and Barbara Long in Chute.
