Calling all Radio Buffs! PDF Print E-mail
FANCY yourself as a budding broadcaster, or just wonder how ‘all that being on the radio stuff’ really works?

Whatever your age or background, Castledown Radio is offering 12 lucky people the unique opportunity to take part in a free one-day ‘Intro to Media’ workshop on, Saturday 14th January 2006 from 9.30am to 4.30pm. You also get a free lunch thrown in!

Do not worry if you miss this session as we will be putting more on throughout the year - give us a ring.

Castledown Radio is a community initiative run by Tidworth Development Trust and funded through Sustain the Plain.  The aim of the project is to integrate and communicate information to the whole community area consisting of: Chute, Chute Forest, Collingbourne Ducis. Collingbourne Kingston, Everleigh, Ludgershall, Tidcombe & Fosbury, Tidworth and Perham Down.

Project Officer Baz Reilly said: “This project is about communicating with people and a great method of communication is radio.  Castledown Radio, accessed from www.castledownradio.info is your Community Radio Station broadcasting 24 hours a day on the Internet and this is your chance to get  ‘hands on’ experience and find out how your Community Radio works.”

The day will consist of a 6-hour taster session where those involved can gain ‘hands on’ experience in the various techniques of broadcasting.  These include Programme Making, Music and Speech Editing, Interviewing and News Reading.

Baz added: “It’s a fantastic opportunity which will have several areas of benefit. The people who attend the course will gain extra skills, build up their confidence and should really enjoy it.  You never know they could end up with their own show on Castledown Radio, the first step to becoming a Radio Star!”

Course members may go on to produce radio programmes or features that will be giving something back to their community.

Different groups and organisations who have dealings with the press or wish to get their club or group’s message over the radio might find this course useful.  These include, Town and Parish councillors, community organisations, local clubs, youth groups, and fund raisers.

The whole day is completely free, including lunch; however, donations to ‘Castledown Radio’ will be gratefully accepted.

Additional sessions will be available to provide further training to those that want it, enabling individuals to develop specific areas of interest.

To book your place contact Baz Reilly on 01264 791929, Mobile 07710 436981 or email studio@castledownradio.info
