Me having a quick nap Surprised

My name is Jack Tennant and I am 15 years old. I live in Andover and go to The Clere School in Newbury and did my year 10 work experience at Castledown Radio. I chose to do this as I really want a career in the music industry when I am older and I thought that working in a radio station would teach me something new and give me good experience.

I learnt how to normalise songs and import them into the Castledown Radio music library. The songs are then played out on a system called Soundbox. I have been out with Baz Reilly and John Sparrow with the Really Red Radio Roadshow. I helped them set it up and pack it away twice. Once for the Learning Day on the 11th May 2009 where I watched Baz interview people from Andover College and other learning establishments. I Also set the equipment up for the monthly Bluez 'n' Zuz disco. This is a project Castledown Radio is doing with the Wiltshire Police so local 11-15 year olds can have a good time at a disco once a month. It went well and I was one of the DJ's

I have also done lots of editing which Baz says I am very good at. You can hear some of the interviews I edited by clicking on the links below.

Listen to Sue Williams and Baz Reilly discussing the Link Scheme. Edited by Jack Tennant. (3 MB)

Listen to Baz Reilly talking to people from Andover College, Tempo, Barclays and more at the Tidworth Learning Day. Edited by Jack Tennant. (4 MB)

Listen to Baz Reilly interviewing people at the Army Welfare Service spring fare. Edited by Jack Tennant. (4 MB)

Listen to Billy Macleod telling us about his new charity "Veterans International Aid." Edited By Jack Tennant. (5 MB)

I went to the Wellington Academy information day on the 21st May 2009 and set up a stall, a PA system and helped Baz by taking pictures of the event. I think it went really well and it looks like the finished school will be great. If it is done by the time I leave school, I may apply for their sixth form. You can see one of the pictures I took below.

I produced, built and presented my own radio program. That included: normalising and importing my own choice of songs, creating a play list of the songs including adverts and sweepers and finally recorded the 'links' that go in between the songs. The show was broadcast on Friday the 22nd May 2009 at 6pm and lasted an hour.

It was absolutely brilliant, as I said in the show, better than my friend's job at the Tadley Co-op. I am looking forward to having my own weekly Drum and Bass show and cannot wait. I would recommend this to anyone. Laughing
