Hello, I’m Ryan Foster I go to Stonehenge School in Amesbury. For my work experience I decided to go to Castledown Radio, because I wanted to work with computers and music.
Ryan becomes the DJ of Castledown Radio for the day.
I interviewed two people at the Beeches Family Centre in Bulford. I was nervous at first but when I actually got to interview them, I just knuckled down and in the end produced a good interview. I then edited the interviews and to my surprise they went out on-air.
Here are the interviews I edited for Castledown Radio:
Listen to the interview I did with Kay Capon. (4 MB)
Listen to myself being interviewed by a local school teacher who was on a radio course. (827 KB)
I also edited some music, for example I did the intros and outros so that the presenter knows when the vocals are about to come in and how long he or she has to talk.
When I had to create web articles I thought that it would be like the websites I did at school for my GCSEs, but then I was told it had to be short and not too detailed.
This I found hard to do at first but then on my second article I did well and I was pleased with it. It was a good experience and it has given me valuable journalism skills along with interview techniques that I can use later on.
My time here has been fun and it’s not everyday that you get the chance to go on-air, unless you work here, which I hope to do later in life. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in music and also good with computers.
Well that's it from me, but I hope that everyone out there who listened to my interviews and radio show enjoyed it. I will miss this place greatly, that's why I've agreed to come in over the weekends to help out.
I would like to give my thanks to all the members of staff here at Castledown Radio, especially Baz and Rick who have showed me and taught me a lot during my time here.
Thanks for reading my web article and I'll see you soon.
Listen to Baz interviewing me on my last day of work experience at Castledown Radio. (1 MB)
