At the end of last year Castledown Radio volunteer Helen Taylor was invited by Nigel Fitzmaurice from Nitro FM, to travel up to Santa Pod for the last big event of the year, the 'Flame and Thunder.'
Helen travelled up with her family and camped at Santa Pod for the weekend, along with hundreds of other families and helped Nigel with some presenting on the radio station; enjoyed some drag racing and did some work for Castledown Radio too!
She spoke to some amazing people, including Martin Hills (Fireforce 3, jet car); Eric Teboul (rocket bike); Barry Sheavills (Mr. 300 mph.); Chico, as well as 10 year old Isabel Rain, from the junior dragsters.

You can find out more by going to www.santapod.co.uk, plus you can listen to the live action from the Auto Trader 'Easter Thunderball' (21st to 24th March). Visit www.audiorealm.com and search for NITRO – this will give you a link to enable you to listen live to Nitro FM!
Listen to all of the interviews and find out what happened when Helen spent the weekend at Santa Pod talking to some of the fastest motorsport drivers in the world and tried to understand what exactly it is that motivates them to drive these crazy – but completely gorgeous machines!
So whether you love drag racing or are just curious – join Helen on Good Friday at 6-8pm and again on Easter Monday afternoon 2-4pm for a very interesting (and at times a very noisy) show!
