Castledown Radio has been funded to the end of 2007 by an EU grants programme 'Sustain the Plain'. To continue the service it needs to obtain funding and is actively doing so from many sources, but we still need financial assistance.
How can you show your support ?
As a supporter of Castledown Radio you will be helping us to develop and expand the station and reach more people. We value any support given to us, and donations will contribute directly to the station's broadcasts, volunteer development and training.
Castledown Radio covers the whole of Tidworth Community Area to inform, educate, communicate and entertain residents and brings together local communities.
Our schedules cover a broad range of programming including community news, specialist music, local sport and more. Our tag line "Radio for you, by you" has never been so true, with support coming in from local residents and groups helping keep Castledown Radio on the air by volunteers presenting 'on air', carrying out various tasks and gathering more information than ever.
Ofcom stipulates that any community radio station must obtain at least 50% of revenues from donations and grants. A maximum of 50% can be derived from the sale of advertising and sponsorship. Any community radio station must be run as not-for-private-profit. As such many community radio stations focus on using volunteers in many operational areas, which meets the 'community benefit' that Ofcom seeks from licenced community radio stations.
