If you were to pass through Salisbury over the bank holiday weekend you may have noticed the giant spotlight in the sky. But if you were thinking that perhaps Batman was fighting crime in Wiltshire - you'd be wrong.

The spotlight was just one small part of a vast array of memorabilia sited at Old Sarum for 'World War Two Weekend' - an event organised and put on by English Heritage. Over three days, historical societies and groups came together to recreate that period of the 1940's with a stunning barrage of history and entertainment.

Blessed with the very best of the weather so far this year, thousands flocked to see the attractions which included battle re-enactments, 1940's music shows and games, military vehicles, plus a spitfire and a hurricane taking to the skies for a breathtaking aerial display!

Castledown Radio's Rick Young visited Old Sarum and spoke to event organisers, display holders and thrilled spectators!
