Muddy Waters? Howlin' Wolf?  Do these names mean anything to you?  If so, check out 'Blues Before Sunrise'.

Presented by Castledown Radio's very own resident bluesman Luke Sperry, listeners are treated to a selection of tracks; hand-picked from Luke's vast collection.  You'll hear anything from the White Stripes and Rolling Stones to Robert Johnson and Blind Lemon Jefferson, with a touch of soul thrown in for good measure!

Rick Young

As well as presenting the morning show, Rick carries out volunteer work behind-the-scenes in production and editing, writing articles for the Castledown Radio website and training new volunteers.  He also heads up 'New Music Project' and gets out-and-about with the 'Really Red Radio Roadshow'.

Rick also presents his own show as a volunteer that focuses on the edgier side of music called 'Off The Wall' - a mix of the best new music, classic soul, old-school hip-hop and out and out rock 'n' roll.

Rap and hip-hop fans are in for a treat at weekends on Castledown Radio.

Marc Denton presents some of the 'phattest' beats and rhymes in 'Strictly Hip-Hop'.  From Public Enemy and The Sugarhill Gang to Dr. Dre and 2Pac, you will hear only the best tunes of the old-school and the new. Catch the show from 8-9pm on Saturday evenings (repeated Sunday 2am).

If you are a chart music enthusiast you may like to tune in to Helen's show on Castledown Radio for the new entries, climbers, non-movers and the top-ten rundown of the UK chart!  Delivered in Helen's unique style she also steps back in time with the 'Retro Moment', plus tracks from the 'Featured chart' which is different every week - it could be 'Rnb', dance or the rock chart.

Listen to 'Helen's Chart Rundown' - Thursdays 8-9pm and Saturdays 6-7pm (repeated Friday 2am and Sunday at 12 midnight).

Helen also presents the "Mid Morning magazine", Wednesday to Friday 10am-12noon, with lot's of gossip and local information presented in a fun and informative show.

John Sparrow

John Sparrow

John Sparrow has joined the Castledown Radio team, presenting shows when he is not busy travelling the world with the day job! 

You can listen to John every Saturday morning from 8-10am, when he presents "Wake up with John Sparrow", starting your day with all the latest local news and information, and the best music.

John was a mobile DJ in the late 70's/early 80's and has a wide ranging musical taste.  He fills in from time to time on the Morning Show and Drive Time slots, as well as helping out with the 'Really Red Radio Roadshow' and other technical "stuff" as required!
 
If you see John around the villages say "Hi" - he might even play you a request on air!

Shane Graham

Shane Graham

Shane's a technical manager for a Facilities Management company, so he gets to wear a suit by day and saves his jeans and scruff's for the weekend. His musical favourites include Queen and Robbie Williams, and he likes old comedy films, and hates miserable people!

Shane would love to work in the music/photography world or be in show business, he enjoys entertaining people and having a laugh.

Chris Walker

Chris Walker

Like the sound of jazz, from old 1920's crackling records to the latest generation of jazz players on mp3? Well Chris Walkers your man, what he does not know about jazz is not worth knowing!

Chris was born in 1939 and took up playing clarinet at the age of 15. After leaving school he played regularly around the London jazz scene, as a member of The Freddy Shaw Jazzmen, before becoming a professional musician with The London City Stompers and, later, with the Mike Daniels Big Band and Colin Kingwell’s Jazz Bandits.

Chris is kept very busy organising jazz events all round the south, and his weekly show includes an extensive jazz gig guide, for fans of the music.  He also produces and presents a complete jazz diary for the area which can be found on the Internet at www.jazzdates.co.uk

Pete was born in Bournemouth and went to the local school where he studied violin for nearly 5 years, being ejected from the class for attempting to imitate Stephene Grappelli with 3 other members of the class.

While working for Post Office Telephones in 1968 he joined with 4 other members of staff to form the Post Office Rhythm Club.

He now co-organizes the Bournemouth Big Band Enthusiasts, Bournemouth Easy Listening Society and Kinson Rhythm and Swing which is a continuation of the Post Office Rhythm Club.

Lynne is still a midwife, but now just doing occasional shifts at Andover Birth Centre, and teaching Ante Natal classes,--- no more ‘on calls’!

Retirement has given her a chance to become involved with the radio and enjoy doing something completely different.

Lynne is now presenting ‘Good Afternoon’—a miscellany of music, chat, and memories.....

Any type of music that brings back a memorable occasion, or event, can be celebrated every Tuesday afternoon-from 2-4pm. Just send all requests, with the stories, and we can share them—and don’t forget the birthdays.

There is also a Chairobics session, a word brain teaser, plus local events and chat.

Many of you may know Sue as the manager of the Castledown Sports Centre, which is situated right next to the Castledown Radio Media Centre. In her spare time Sue has been busy creating a new show for you all, 'Sue's Soothing Sounds'.

If, after a hectic week, you like to wind down with some soothing music and a gentle voice, then tune in to Castledown Radio on Sunday evenings from 8-9pm.

Listen to a mix of classical, vocal and easy-listening chill-out music. 'Sue’s Soothing Sounds' is one hour of complete relaxation – dedicated to you.

As Sue says in her own words, ‘Remember the time, remember the station…remember me’

Gary Jackson

Gary Jackson

Gary Jackson is a former DJ and hospital radio presenter, who began an internet only 60s show in America called My Generation nearly ten years ago. "Dark Side Of The Moon", featuring artists like Pink Floyd and Genesis was the next show, and now comes "The Gary Jackson Show", also including a progressive/classic rock track.

Essentially the show consists of music from across the decades, plus the musical anagram, the lyric quiz, the "Jive Hive" and "Follow That".
You'll have to listen to find out!

Gary's favourite artists are The Searchers, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Van Morrison.

Simon Davies

Simon Davies has joined Castledown Radio after attending a "Day In Radio" course, and now presents "The Big Easy" on Saturday mornings from 10 til 12 noon. Covering music from Motown to today's hit's, Simon enjoy's playing music from such stars as Abba , Elton John and the Bee Gees.

Also know by his nickname Tinky, Simon say's "It's great to be able to play music from my era, as well as right up to today, and keep listeners informed about things going in our local area. I make it a good show to listen to if you are doing the housework, washing the car, or having a lie in!!"
